The parts

What a search ad is made of

A search ad is built like an ordinary result, with one part that Google requires on every ad.

  1. The Sponsored label

Google marks every paid result, so people can tell an ad from an ordinary result.

  2. The headline

The line people read first, linked to the page the ad sends them to.

  3. The description

A line or two that says more about the service, the business or the next step.

The work

What managing Google Ads involves

Google Ads management is the planning and day-to-day running of a business’s advertising on Google. A search campaign shows ads to people who search for chosen words, in the places the advertiser chooses, and the advertiser usually pays when someone clicks. Google decides which ads show, and in what order, through an auction that weighs each advertiser’s bid together with the quality of the ad and of the page it leads to. Running a campaign means choosing those searches and places, writing the ads, setting the budget, connecting the conversion tracking that tells you which clicks turned into calls or requests, and reading what the account records so that the next decision rests on it. Search is one campaign type among several: Google Ads can also show ads on YouTube, on websites in Google’s display network and in Google Maps.

What we run for your business is agreed in writing before we start. We don’t promise a number of calls or clicks: the auction, the competition and the searches people make change every day.

What we need from you: access to your Google Ads account, a clear idea of the work you want more of, and the pages or the phone number the ads should send people to.

Questions

Questions about Google Ads

How are Google Ads charged?

For a search campaign, the advertiser usually pays when someone clicks the ad, and sets the budget the campaign spends from. The price of each click is decided in Google’s auction, so it changes with the search and with the competition for it.

Will my ad always be at the top?

No. Google runs an auction for every search and decides which ads show and in what order, weighing the bid and the quality of the ad and its page. An ad can show at the top for one search and lower down, or not at all, for the next.

Why is my ad marked Sponsored?

Google labels every paid result so people can tell ads from the ordinary results. The label is Google’s, and it appears on every ad.

Who owns the ads account?

Your business does. Our terms say that client data and client-owned assets remain the client’s property, and access to the account is given by you and can be removed by you.

What is conversion tracking?

It is the setup that tells Google Ads when a click turned into something that matters to you, such as a call or a form sent from your website. Without it, an account can count clicks but cannot say which ones led to a request.
